Default 2016 1500 Crew, Shift to R, Nothing happens

58k on Longhorn hemi crew.
There are lots of posts talking about rotary shift ***** stuck in park. Some guys got new shift selectors, some got new valve bodies.

Anyone experienced no reverse, or no forward gear engagement?Have also experienced tyranny slippage 1 to 2, or 2 to 3. Ocassional slippage downshift 3 to 2.

Took to Whitten Brothers Ram in Richmond Va. Nice folks but They just looked for codes, and never drove my truck to diagnose. Thus problem continues.

Hard to believe that meets the standards of FCA. Fear this 1500 will leave me stranded.

Can't get a service appointment for 3 weeks.

there is an update that makes the rotary **** flash and forward or reverse impossible when a door is ajar...
I found out this when trying to line up with my trailer ball with my door open... no movement only engine races...
I believe this update happened when I took mine in around February for some warranty updates

to the best of my knowledge, any gear selected while a door is ajar will flash perhaps even P while the door is still ajar, any door...

to get back to working condition you have to close the door, go to Park, then to D or R to get moving again...

this also got me while pulling up to my mailbox to extract mail... I opened the door a bit to reach the mailbox, then wanted to move forward maybe a couple of inches, but the engine revved and no movement... this was in a recent update to the computer mandated

I hope this helps

All my Blinking P and R have occurred with the door closed. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes to get engaged in R, after moving the rotary **** all around.

I get hard clunks when R is finally engaged. I might blame this on the computer update, however my tyranny has been slipping 1 to 2 for a year.

Now I'm getting a hard clunk shifting 2 to 3 on light acceleration, followed by a big tyranny slip between 3 and 4.

So open door is not my answer.

FCA case manager has opened a warranty service case, which should allow the dealer to diagnose the problems, even though no computer trouble code is present.
