Dodge Durango The Dodge Durango. The mid size SUV that redefined class and was then coupled with rugged toughness, the Dodge Durango.

Could the death of the Durango give rise to a Ramcharger return?

Default Could the death of the Durango give rise to a Ramcharger return?

With the announcement that the Durango will not be produced when the Cherokee goes to the next generation, does this open the door for a return of the Ramcharger? The Chrysler group is missing a good competitor for the Expedition/Tahoe class vehicle. It could be build under the RAM brand, use Multiair and cylinder deactivation to make it more fuel efficient, and still maintain a look current Durango owners are familiar to (while the Cherokee is the same vehicle, it has a different look and not everyone likes that.) What does everyone else think?

I think Dodge is phasing itself out. The cars will be Fiats, the trucks will be Rams and the SUVs will be Jeeps.

Pure speculation here but how can Dodge continue to use the Mercedes platform indefinitely considering their marriage has been over for some time? The new 300 for example is no longer a re-skinned mercedes, it's all american. Also the 8 speed transmission is no longer mfg'd in europe, it's home made. I'm guessing the legal mechanism that allowed Dodge to use Mercedes design & tech is set to expire. I just hope this isn't a signal to return to low quality...
