Default Internet speed? Road Runner.

ok guys. I'm wondering if anyone knows how fast basic Road Runner is. I've been all over their site and all they say is "its up to 100x faster than blah blah blah" but they wont give me an answer on just how fast their internet is. we're moving this week so my dad is ordering new internet and such and i told him to go with the 500kbps internet instead of the 112kbps. but i just dont know if the 500 will be slower than our Road Runner is right now or faster or the same.

500mbps will be slower. I have no idea what the basic is, but mine is 5MB, or about 5000mbps.

take your computer over to a friend's with other internet service and test using these 'bandwidth' checking websites:

http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/default.asp

http://www.dslreports.com/stest

For even more accurate results
download 'Dam Small Linux' iso file (version 3.3 is newest)
and burn it to CD
using another free Windows program like 'ISOrecorder'.

Boot this CD and use the "toram" option
then do the bandwidth tests.
This tiny 50 MB version of Linux is super fast and keeps your computer's performance from interfering with the bandwidth tests.
