Default What Processor came out of this?

Hi people
I just had the question about a motherboard?
Last April I had my computer upgraded when they upgraded my computer they replaced my motherboard and processor. They had told me that they could not just replace my [/b]old processor to a faster one because my motherboard would not support it that they would also have to replaced my motherboard so I said sure. So they gave me a new motherboard and 3200 + processor.

When they upgraded my computer they bought my old processor but returned my mother board and ram etc. I kept the components in storage until recently someone asked me if they could have my old motherboard I told them yes but the board did not have a processor. He asked me what processor chip was in so he could buy one you know like 2100 or 1800 and so on andfor the life of mecould not remember what they had taken out []and I knew not just any could be put in for they couldn't put the 3200 in it orlease thats what they had said at the pc shop.

So I had hoped that maybe someone here could tell me maybe what processor chip that was taken out or could be put in the motherboard. I have some of the old information off the receipt when the old CP was built and the numbers off the motherboard.

The older receipt says:
ECS K7S5APRO SIS 735
Athlon ecs XP palomino 2000
DDR 256 PC 2100 266 MHZ OEM

The mother board says
EA = 000AE67F0714
K7S5A Pro
D170DE3052707
Socket 462

So if anyone knows I would be grateful for the answer.
Thanks

Well that's interesting because the ECS K7S5A Pro uses AMD Socket A, also known as Socket 462. Which, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_462) supports:
AMD Athlon (650 MHz - 1400 MHz)
AMD Athlon XP (1500+ - 3200+)
AMD Duron (600 MHz - 1800 MHz)
AMD Sempron (2000+ - 3300+)
AMD Athlon MP (1000 MHz - 3000+)

It is possible that the motherboard doesn't officially support Athlon XP processors above a certain speed, I tried looking that up on ECS web site but they don't offer much info. Any Athlon XP that is socket A/socket 462 compatible should work, if you want to play it safe go a little lower than the 3200+. If he's not sure where to get it check out http://www.newegg.com

PRetty much what Altair said. Even if your mobo can support the 3200+, you'll most likely need a BIOS update.

This site will tell you everything you need to know about the motherboard (with pictures), you can't beat pictures. In short the ECS K7S5A gives away the type of processer, the "K7" tells you it's an AMD K7 type processer. And Palomino in your post: (also from Wiki) you can support a processor up to 2100 (1733MHz)
Athlon XP

Palomino (180 nm)
