McAfee isnt the best out there, and honestly, I would never use them. It's better then not having any at all.....

The two options I would go with are either Avast or Symantec AntiVirus (not Norton AntiVirus). Both are very good, both have tons of support, and both will do far better then McAfee in my opinion.

I would also suggest running a spyware/adware removal tool/scanner. Something like Adware Pro would be a good start.

Remember, keeping your security updates current and making sure your Microsoft updates and other software updates are current is as big a part in protecting your PC as having an AntiVirus software.

Do not renew McAfee. I have it availableto me for free with my internet connection and all the resources of McAfee. Virus protection, spyware, firewall, etc. It makes your computer run so much slower than the others.

Against what Devil says, I am running Norton 2006 and not having any troubles, I have Zone Alarm Pro running for spyware and adware, then I have Adware Personnel edition (can get this for free from download.com) that I run at least once a month and it will catch a couple of files that Zone Alarm missed. All this along with the Windows security set up. Much happier.

if you can get ahold of a copy of Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition thats what i would do (i get it free from work). otherwise i would go with Avast which i believe is still free.

Yeah I'm pretty lousy with knowing what's up with computers but one thing I did when I set it up was set it to update automatically. Thanks for the help guys I knew McAfee wasn't that great especially considering I got atrojan on the first night and McAfee only warned me after the fact but I wasn't sure if there was anything better than that.

Avast is much better than McCrappy and Whorton. Not to mention its FREE. Just have to register once a year for a new key. For a firewall, Zonealarm's free one works good and is easy to setup. Been using this setup on ALL my computers and no problems arose whatso ever. I run Spybot and adaware once a week also.
