GParted is a disk management program similar to Partition Magic.

Volunteers have put it onto a bootable CD
that you can stick in your cd drive and boot
even if the operating system on your hard drive has problems.

In addtion, the Testdisk program is included too
which has several commands that can fix many boot problems.

I have used ERD Commander for years also. Great bootable cd the fixes a lot of windows issues, removes passwords and unencrypts folders.
