Any experiance with ASrock motherboards?
They appear to be a lower end Asus, my brother told me they are not that great and to stick with Asus, DFI, Gigabyte, or MSI. My problem, is trying to find a decent socket A (462) mobo with a FSB speed of 333mhz or greater in my price range. I see plenty of used boards, but I am skeptical as most of them have no warranty. I found a refurbished ASrock mobo (http://tinyurl.com/2ze38z) with a 90 day warranty that does not look too bad. Any specifics on why I should not use that? Help!
I don't know much about ASrock, I generally agree with the brand choices your brother gave you. The only thing that would worry me here is that not only it's an unknown brand it's also refurbished. Try searching for reviews of the board you're looking at on google or other sites, HardOCP and TomsHardware are both very reputable sites for reviews and stuff, there's lots of others too.
Thanks. From what I read, ASrock is just the lower end Asus, and it had 4.5-5 star reviews on this board everywhere I went. I also found it direct from geeks.com for $32 shipped. Since it is refurbished, and it does not come with anything but the board, would I just go to the ASrock website and download the drivers, then save them on a disc?
Is this one better? http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...BO&cat=MBB
