Default RE: Clubhouse?

Hmmm... I think we could try it... let me think about how to implement it for a little bit. My thought is, it's not hard to get 50 people to agree, but to get 50 people to actually be active within that "club section"...

And that's what worries me... the club of fart lighters... LOL, I think we should stick to common sense topics, music, boating, horseback riding, paintball, flying, etc... know what I mean? Maybe it'll be a suggest and if I agree it'll go up type of thing (we all know I'm very easy to get along with)? Instead of trying to get 50 people to agree? I'm afraid it'll take away from Off Topic though... Hmm... more thoughts everyone?

It might take away from the offtopic forum, but I still say go for it.

It has pluses and minuses, all this can be discussed in the off topic forum. But it would be more topic specific.

I think the special interest type of stuff should just be brought up in individual threads in Off Topic. There are already SO many sub-forums on DF, and so many of them are used very little, I think this would end up not only being the same way, but hurting the Off Topic area. And yah, there's 11,000+ registered users of DF, but it's the same couple dozen of us that keep the Off Topic area going. And it's still extremely slow compared to most other sites I've been involved with. If we split it into specific sub-topics, it'll slow down even more, and people won't get to know each other as well as we do now just in the Off Topic area.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I see WAY more potential for bad things happening than good if this is implemented.

Besides, this is DODGE Forum, not Topic-of-the-day Forum... That's what the Off Topic area is for.

i agree with snafu here...i dont see the point in adding another off topic area, which is basically what it is...it would bascially be making off topic easier to cruise, but lets be honest, the peoeple who post here all the time, have the time on their hands to look around for things that interest them....

After thinking on it overnight, and reading the additional responses... I think we should stick with the Off Topic, and not break it down into more specific sections. It would take away from OT and let's face it, none of us have ever had a problem being chatty about whatever the topic is in Off Topic. LOL!
