I have noticed that the dodge Dakota forum is divided up into sub-forums
1st Gen 96 and older / 2nd Gen 1997-2004 / 3rd Gen 2005. However this break down of generations does not correspond to how many other people, and other forums, and websites divide the Dakota into the different generations.
Here is the different generations of the Dakota as is typically found.
Gen 1 - 1987-1991 - pre mag carbureted engines
Gen 2 - 1992-1996 - Magnum Engines and a few body changes
Gen 3 - 1997-2004 - Many new body changes
Gen 4 - 2005 - New redesigned look
The only reason I bring this up is because recently they have been a few misunderstanding on what people mean when they mention a particular generation.
