Default best syntetic oil for the buck

behind in the times recently bought a used dakota with 4.7l and never owned anything before that has so many demands. i am use to using thick conventional oil and let it warm up before i drive down the road. definitely want to put synthetic in it but does it really matter which. the original owner says he changed it once a year with mobile one 5w-30. i am considering either supertech or o'rielly brand.

was hoping to get some thoughts on this from those with more experience. watched a few different tests of various brands on youtube.

this guy on youtube did a series and came to his own conclusion from supposed lab tests.

this guy's testing is really interesting.
