If you have not installed anything in the past few days you have a virus or spyware. If you have installed something remove it. Best to use the system restore option, start-all programs-accessories-systems tools-system restore, then go back a few days.
If you have not installed anything you most likely have a virus or possibly a bad piece of spyware. Doing some quick lookups on the net about your error returned alot of info about the sassar virus, which is quite old, if you were running a up to date virus program and, this is important, all the security patches from MS then sassar would not be the issue.
THere is a sticky at the top about security that talks a little bit about spyware scans. As for a virus, you would need to find a site with a free virus program or obtain a new virus program from a store.

I've got a dell runing windows and its fine.... Try the system restore if that doesnt work then you may need to find out what is failing to load... if its not vital you can go in and make it not try to fire up on startup...
If a system restore does not seem to fix the problem, which I've encountered in the past, there could possibly be a corrupt system file on the computer. The services and controller app is a highly vital component of windows. A thing to try that will not erase any files or programs in the Windows Repair utility in Windows setup. You insert your Windows XP CD that came with the computer, and boot your laptop to the CD (turn on computer with cd in drive). After going through the beginning steps of the Windows installation, it will after accepting the License agreement, search for Previous versions of Windows on Hard Drives. It will find Windows on your drive and give you an option to continue, or ask if you want to repair the installation, hit R to repair the installation. IF YOU DO NOT get asked if you want to repair the installation, shut down the laptop and do not proceed any further with booting to CD. Things to do before you attempt this:
1. Make a backup of all your important files
2. Have your restore CDs and Windows key ready (found on bottom of laptop)
3. read everything carefully, not doing so can cause a loss in data (if you didn't follow rule number 1 lol).
