Intrepid 2.7l keeps losing gear/power intermittently
For the past almost 2 years, my 2004 Intrepid se 2.7l, 160Kkm, intermittently loses gear/power once every couple of weeks, or couple of thousands kms drive.
I have an engine service light for knock sensor problem.
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
(dealer quoted for > $1.2K to change the sensor, which made me decide not to attempt), to my knowledge if the knock sensor is not functioning, ignition circuit will use the safest timing, so the knock sensor doesn't seem to relate with my problem.
the symptom is:
Under regular drive or stop in front of traffic light, suddenly engine seems being dead, all gauge meters whip to zero position. the whole losing power kind of thing last less then 1/2 sec. And everything is reset (engine service light comes back after about 15 mins' drive.)
Sometime maybe if the fuel peddle is pressed, the car will choke.
Chrysler had it for a week, encountered once this symptom, but they had no idea about how to get it done. Mentioned about getting a thing to record error code during driving. But haven't get any real test done yet.
Anyone has experience on similar thing?
Great thanks,
