I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid ES and my ABS and emergency brake lights are on. My problem is, when I went to check my fuses, there weren't any for an ABS pump and the ABS system. My next step was to check for wheel speed sensors, but I can't find anything that resembles a sensor near the hub, caliper, or the axle at all. I'm starting to believe that I don't even have ABS, because it was an optional feature for this car, but WHY ARE MY LIGHTS COMING ON!?! If anyone knows where the wheel speed sensors would be, please inform me, maybe I'm just going insane. Any suggestions would be welcome as well!

 

Well, start by making sure your emergency brake pedal didn't get bumped in a little, easy to check the switch on that to make sure it is working. The abs sensors will be in line with the CV shaft ends. You will see a toothed ring on the end of the shaft by the wheel assembly. The sensor is mounted so that it is close to the teeth as that geared ring spins. Usually the are mounted through the back of the wheel assembly. If you have ABS on this vehicle, if I remember right the ABS fuses are located in the panel in the engine compartment, by the battery. Also check your break fluid while you are there.

 

Ok, thank you very much! However, mine does not actually have ABS, as I thought. My uncle is a master mechanic and he said the instrument cluster went haywire and the lights are coming on when there is nothing wrong. So, since the brakes work fine, I'm leaving it.
