Default Stalling problem

I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7. You know when you try to start your engine when the battery doent have enough juice to turn it over? The engine trys to turn and the belts move about 3 inches before the engine stops and cant crack over? Well keep that thought in you head.

My problem is that you can start my Intrepid up just fine and it begins to sound alright for about 2 to 3 seconds. Then bam for about a half of a second to a full second my engine sounds like that image in your head( the the belts want to stop), then the engine recovers and starts to run alright again. This time instead of running alright for 2 to 3 seconds, it runs for about 2 seconds before the problem happens again. It recovers and runs alright for about 1 more second before the problem comes back(sometimes it just dies before it gets this far). Once the engine dies it starts right back up and does it all over again. I havent gotten a scan tool yet to check it and dont want to try to get it to an autoparts shop . Anyone know whats wrong with the engine? Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you've got bad engine timing. It sounds like your car is trying to spark at the wrong time, and it's causing the engine to sputter and try to figure out what the timing is.

Check your timing belt. You may have jumped time. And check those plugs. If you've fouled a couple, then it would explain why your car is having this issue (I think - without a tool, it's hard to tell).

Good luck with this one man. Hopefully someone else will see this and respond.
