Default *Update* to "questions" post

So I made the 2 hour trek to the dodge dealer to have my daytime running lights enabled. According to Dodgecares, the DRLs should be enableable with an update to the BCM. My dealer here says that my 2011 Journey R/T is not equipped with DRLs, therefore they cannot be enabled. They did update my BCM in some capacity. They said they called "Star" to confirm that the DRLs could not be turned on. They said the Uconnect option to turn them on is just part of the the general system installed in all Journeys and some part to allow DRLs is not installed on my Journey. I feel like my dealer didn't fully look into the matter, but I really don't know. I really can't argue.

Anyway. . . the point of this long narrative is that there are Journeys out there that are not equipped with DRLs, I guess. Even if it is enabled in Uconnect, they may not be on.

FYI

Peace.

Guess I need someone to stand in front while I enable/disable them. Not sure I'd know what light (low beam?) should be on or off or which light switch position (auto in daylight?) would prove it one way or the other.

Like you, I have the "option" on the 8.4N. Every other option that I don't have is either grayed out (non-selectable) or just not present.

I have access to a StarScan tool as I have a buddy who's the head tech at a Jeep performance shop that used to be a Jeep dealer b4 the restructure.

I changed the "country code" to Canada on mom's Journey and the DRLs started working. This is on a 2010 though.

That's just crazy. I expect its just a software switch but since they are not "required" in the USA they are not activated.

I'm just surprised some enterprising US dealers don't "sell" DRL's as a dealer option and just flip the switch. What a money maker! I don't think my Journey cares whether it's in Canada or the U.S. Would it automatically switch all the readings to metric? Probably....

Or, heaven forbid, Dodge sells it as a safety feature that comes "standard"....every little added perk helps.

Canada comes standard with DRL, USA is still optional. If you have Auto Headlamps they should turn on depending on ambient light IF you have a sunload sensor in the top of the dash. There is also a feature to have them turn on with wipers. The only way I could tell is to see the scan tool options. Being that they changed the electrical system around a bit for 2011, I have no idea yet if Canada code would cause you issues.
