Default New Journey Owner

Hi everyone,

My name is Keith and I took delivery of a 2013 Dodge Journey SXT two weeks ago. I love it so far, it meets the needs of my family perfectly.

I am sure this question has been asked before, but I was wondering when I should perform the first oil change? The dealership told me that I should do it around 6,000 kms, but the manufacture date is November 2012, which means it was sitting on the lot for about 3-4 months before I purchased it.

Should I wait until I hit 6,000 kms or should I take it in for an oil change immediately? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Keith

The only fluid you should concern yourself is the
oil,I changed mine at 5000 KM the first time and
change it at 5000 KM regularly.
I have been Mopar since 1984 and have never
had an engine failure and seeing that nowdays
I only put on 12-14000 KMs per it amounts to 2
changes per year,I spend more at Tim Hortons
each year.

Hi bigtsr,

Thanks for your advice. Ok, I will wait until 5,000 kms. Also, I hear you on the Tim Hortons. I go there at least once a day :-)

Cheers,

Keith

I bought my 2012 SXT new in November (2012). It had a build date of February, so I changed the oil after 250 miles just to make sure.

I miss Tim Hortons. All the ones in CT closed up about a year ago. They just couldn't stand up to the Dunkin Donuts competetion despite being higher quality, lower price, and cleaner IMHO.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the reply. With mine, it was built in November 2012 and the dealer where I purchased it got it from a dealer about an hour away, so I don't know how long it was sitting on the original dealer's lot. I think I will take it in for an oil change asap.

Sorry to hear that the Tim Hortons in CT closed. I heard it was having trouble competing in the U.S.

Cheers,

Keith
