Default Noise Issue

I have a 2013 Dodge Journey SXT 4 cylinder with about 2200 miles. I was at the dealership 6 weeks ago regarding some noises, it sounds like a tapping or small burst of machine gun fire ever time I shut the car off. The dealer said it was a heater door actuator and that it could come and go and pretty much was told that I would have to deal with the noise.

The other noise I have occurs every time I start the car and go about no more than 100 feet it sounds like a brake spring popping in the front of the car. The dealer heard it but not sure what it is, but stated they would put out a bulletin.

Tomorrow will be a week that the dealer has had my car. I now have a "star case" that was opened with Chrysler. The dealership keeps informing me that they are waiting on Chrysler to get back to them. They hear the noise but have not idea where it is, so in other words do not know how to fix it.

Chrysler told me today that they are hoping to have my car fixed by next week.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what was the outcome?

Thanks

I had that same noise (like a spring popping) during the first 50 feet or so of travel after a start-up on my 1991 Taurus SHO. It was finally diagnosed as the ABS going through its startup routine. It must have been harmless as I had the car for 14 years / 100k and no issues. This may be completely unrelated to your issue, but who-knows.

I have to agree. It sounds like the anti lock going through its test phase. All later model cars I have had all do it within the first 100 to 50 feet. I too have a 13 SXT with the 4 banger and thats what it is doing.

Before you crucify the dealer, perhaps you should really just take a test drive on another Journey on their lot. If such noise are there since day one, maybe it is just a normal Characteristic of your car.

As many stated, it could be simply the ABS pump priming.

And regarding the noise you hear after you shut off the car, these new cars occasionally goes thru a whole bunch of Calibration for a few minute after the car is shut off. they are not like old days where once you take the key out, everything is shut off.
