Default 2009 journey V6 3.5 SXT FWD will not move foward, only reverse

Hi everyone,

I hope I'll find some help around here with all you enthusiasts for the dodge journey ! It's actually my first post here, but I usually find my way when I don't have much clues about an issues by going on forums like here. I'm a car enthusiast as well as a serious part time mecanic with lift at home, etc...

I need your help to get the issue troubleshooted. I do have a Dodge journey 2009 SXT V6 3.5L which is the FWD model. I can't get it to move foward, but reverse's working fine... I hear the transmission somewhat get in gear when it's put on "D" but will not move at all, even if giving some gaz...

ESP, ABS and another light which I can't remember at this time is on in the dash... I've not been able to get any OBDII standard codes, it might have some codes for the transmissions, but don't have any scanner for this with me...

What should I take a look at first ?

Thanks,

Does the tach indicate rpms increase in "D"?

If it does and no forward movement then I would suggest
the trans is toast.
You might check shifter linkage from under DJ as a last resort
possible it only goes to neutral for some reason.

how many miles on your car? I believe 09 Chrysler products has 5 yr 100k mile warranty on the Trans.

It's a Canadian Journey with 118 000 km on it...

Anyways, the oil smell like something just burn out inside... I think that journey might have been abuse at towing heavy trailers...

New transmission coming in tomorrow.

Thanks all for your help, any good tricks for transmission removal ? Will be doing it on a 2 posts lift.

Regards,
