Drivers door failing to open
A week or so ago my 2010 UK Dodge Journey (2.0 RT)'s alarm went off out of the blue. I unlocked and re-locked and left it. Next day when I tried to open it, the driver's door wouldn't open. The lock operated and the feedback on the handle was normal, it just wouldn't open.
Being a computer person I figured, "turn it off and on again" and disconnected the battery and re-connected it. Very proud of myself for that one as it fixed the problem.
It happened again yesterday and then again today. The battery trick doesn't seem to be working anymore - maybe because I'm not discharging fully, so I'll try that again, but my question is...
Is this a common fault? Anything I can do? The car is under warranty for another 18 days and booked into a dealer for them to look at it. The only problem is that if I fix it (so I can get in/out of the car without clambering over the centre console), they'll just book it in and straight out again.
I did the key dance and the odo came up with "------" and then "--done--" so I guess there's nothing in the computer log?

Youtr choice of action is correct. Get it to the dealer while your warranty is in effect, make sure they tell you what causes this problem. I have seen a couple of posts on this already.
There is a software update for the TIPM to address this concern. Even if it doesn't fix it, make sure you document everything regardless of what the dealer find, if it fails few weeks later after warranty period, just call Chrysler with this documentation.
I dropped into the dealer today to get it looked at. They said they'd temporarily fixed it but that it needs a new latch to fix it fully.
Is that right? Is the local "brain" the problem or is it the ECU?
Thanks.
