Default A/C only working one side

I've always considered my heating to be poor but recently my wife complained she was cold.
Upon investigation, we found out that the blowers on the passenger side of the car was blowing cold whilst the drivers side was blowing nice and hot.
It is dual A/C.
Just wondering if anyone else has ever come across this and how they resolved it. Can anyone say, yes it is definitely the ______ that needs replacing, topping up etc?
I want to try and repair it myself or at least work out what is wrong rather than pay $150 for the dealership just to look at it.

The car is a 2009 Dodge Journey.

There actuating gates that open and close to direct and blend
heat according to your settings and it may be that a gate is stuck
or an actuator has failed.

Did the 09's have separate driver/passenger settings? Our 09 did not but it was a basic SE model. Our 13 SXT has it but I have yet to really notice a difference between sides even when my wife has her side on full hot and mine on full cold.....I still burn up...lol
