Default 2010 dash lights keep vehicle from shifting in\out of gear

I have a 2010 3.6 V6 Journey. This problem started several months ago but went away on its own. Now it's back. When starting the engine, the ESP\BAS light and traction control light both stay on. While they're on, the gear shifter locks wherever it is, most of the time in park. This doesn't happen every time the engine is started, and I've been able to solve it by turning the engine off and restarting it several times. What's causing this? Please tell me there's an easy fix!

Hi kandarinas,

Is this something you're looking to fix on your own, or are you interested in having a Dodge dealership diagnose and repair?

If it's possible, I'd like to solve\repair the problem myself. This way if it happens again I know what to do. I also have two kids with chronic illnesses, so I don't have the cash to pay a dealer to diagnose and fix it. I enjoy working on my cars too.

Start by checking the obvious things. Brake switch, wheel sensors, wiring, connectors, etc. Get out there and troubleshoot!
