Default Intermittent Engine Light Dodge Journey 2009 RT 2.7 V6

I'm getting an intermittent engine light on my Dodge Journey 2009 RT 2.7V6. Performance doesn't seem to be affected in any way. But I'm suspecting a faulty gas cap?

Post the code and we might be able to help. The car is telling you what's wrong.

I wish I could. But diagnostic equipment and OBD tools aren't easy to come by here. And very pricey.
I tried getting the codes to display on the dash but I'm not sure if my model supports that feature.

I used to own and Opel Astra and could get the fault codes myself. This is a new journey for me. Pardon the pun.

The car is going in on Monday for the dealer to fix some stuff and they will sort that out. I would just like to know how to diagnose these issues so the mechanics don't sell me some BS story in the future.

You can buy a code reader for less than $20 these days off amazon or ebay.

Just a quick update on this one. I actually replaced the EGR valve and that has sorted the MIL light. (for now....)
