mine was the same great heat on driver side nothing on passangers, from looking seems the heatercore needs flushed i live in a apt had no meen's to a garden hose so i changed the lines going into the heater core with each other put in a can of rad flush so it back flushed it's self.
mind you all that junk is still in the cooling system so drive for a few day's that way then drain the coolant to get the junk out and hook up the hoses the way should be you are good to go.
worked great for me had heat on passenger side in 5 mins.
