2010 Journey R/T with 219,000 miles for $4000?
I’ve been drooling over a Dodge Journey for a while now but I have a limited budget as this will be a second vehicle. Someone has a 2010 R/T that has 219,000 miles for $4000. It’s black with black leather, has heated seats, remote start, u connect, back up camera DVD player, sunroof... It looks nice and clean, but with 219,000 miles is it worth driving 2 hours to look at and is $4000 a good price? One thing I have on my side is that my brother in law is a Dodge certified mechanic so he will be going with me to look at it, but he is limited by not being able to actually put it up on a rack to check it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thats about the average price according to KBB, But, 2010 has the 3.5L which has a timing belt that needs to be replaced on a regular basis, has it been?. Also, 2010 have small brakes which results in premature rotor warping. They upgraded the brakes in 2012. IMO, go for a 2012 or newer. Much less known issues.
Thank you. He didn’t say anything about a timing belt, but did say the brakes were replaced within the last few months. I think we are going to go look at it because I’m needing something pretty cheap and have not seen many Journeys around here that I can afford.
I've had 2 of them. An 09 4 cylinder and a 2013 with the 3.6L. We had the brakes replaced on the 09 by the dealer twice within 20,000 miles until I replaced them myself with some quality aftermarket parts. They lasted until we traded at 80,000 miles after that. So keep that in mind if the brakes were replaced with factory parts. They will fail premature again. They are just way undersized. Make sure the timing belt has been replaced at the intervals specified in the owners manual.
Ok. So, my mom doesn’t think it’s a good idea to buy it so she offered to loan me a little more money so I can get something with a few less miles. I really like the way it looks, but after your comments and her concern I might try to hold out and see if I can find a 2012 or newer. Thank you!
