Good idea? 17" Winter tires and rims? Stock are 19"...
I have a 2012 Dodge Journey R/T Rallye, with all-season 225-55-R19 tires on it. My father-in-law has a 2013 Journey SXT with 225-60-R17 winter tires on it (stock size listed is 225-65-R17). He found another set of used (but in great shape) winter tires the same size as his... should I find a set of steel rims and use them on my Journey?
I contacted 1010tires.com and they state"If you review the info at the URL in our previous E-mail, you will see the tire is more than 3% shorter than your original tires. On top of the speedometer / odometer calibration, this height difference can also potentially cause issues with computer controlled systems like anti-lock brakes and traction control. We never recommend any tires outside the +/- 3% tolerance."
Here is the URL they are referring to: 1010tire.com link
Any advice on this one? My father-in-law has been driving his Journey on his winter tires all winter long. The local KalTire put the tires on his vehicle, no questions asked. You would think they would know whether it's a good idea or not.
