Default 2010 Journey - intermittent start fault

Hi all,

I guess my car is slightly rarer than most US models as I have a right hand drive, manual gearbox and VW diesel engine in mine!

However, I am having the problem many have suffered with the intermittent starting fault.

We changed the battery last week as the old one was in poor condition. This fixed the issue for a day.

Car has only covered 60,000 miles and is in mint condition otherwise.

My mechanic is looking at the car tomorrow in the garage. However, could I ask, Do manual gearboxes have a range sensor or neutral switch?

I have asked him to test the starter motor and solenoid, the cables and earth straps between battery/ignition/starter and also investigate the possibility of a fault ASD relay.
Is there anything else I should be checking?

Thanks

R

Have you checked for open recalls? Iirc there was an ignition switch recall on some models.
