I'm just now going down the same path with my 2011 Journey LUX. I can't figure out how to remove the camera. My repair manual says to pry off the lighter, but it isn't giving any. Did you figure this out? Mind sharing?

OK, so I pulled the trim panel off the inside of the tailgate and there is a retaining screw on the back of the lightbar. Problem solved. One the retaining nut is removed the lightbar can be pried off.
