Default 2012 Dodge Journey - Shudder in Rear End When Turning?

We have a 2012 DJ R/T that shudders in the rear end when we turn, especially to the left. I called our mechanic and he suggested that we first change out the fluid in the rear end. I've been googling it but can't seem to find out how to change the fluid in the rear end. Is there fluid in both the viscous coupler and the rear differential? I talked to the local Dodge dealer and the service guy automatically said the viscous coupler would need replacement and it would cost $1000++ and he said we might need tire replacement too (it was just a quick inquiry, the guy never actually inspected the vehicle as yet)...

$2000+ is just crazy and I pray the service guy at the dealer is wrong about it... yikes!

advice anyone?

I have a 2012 journey R/T with the same shudder when turning, I am about to replace the Viscous unit which Brown's chrysler wanted 3800$ for, I got one from Mopar for 2200$ looks like a fairly easy change, I will do that once I am home from the mine in a week and let you know how that went, I just have some questions around if it requires any programming once installed for the dealership, I just changed oil in everything, Transmission, transfer case, rear diff, engine but the issue continues, this is the last step
