2010 Dodge Journey Bad key error in dash
Hi Everyone
I have a 2010 uk model Journey 2.0 crd that has been left with me yesterday to look at for a friend, it had been sitting for over a year and Battery was dead, he has replaced the vehicle battery and also the key battery. I am in Ireland and these cars are not very popular here, to be honest this is the first one i have seen in workshop.
The car when you put the key in the slot without turning the key, Bad key appears in the instrument panel and when key is turned nothing happens at all, no dash lights or any clicking of relays.
I am hoping this problem is just a faulty key as there is no spare with the car to check. I would just like to verify a few things before ordering a new key
What my question is, Do the Win modules on these cars need to see signal from key to allow power up of instrument panel or should the instruments come alive when key is turned to on position even with faulty key, but fail to start? or should it be like it is with no power up at all if key is faulty
I also cant get any comms at all with any modules in the car using G scan or AVDI
Also would anyone knows where to find a good wiring diagram as Autodata is as good as useless for this model. I purchased what i thought was a repair manual last night I will attach to post, might be useful to some, but it seems to be lacking an index and is over 4000 pages..
Forgot to add, the exterior lights come on, hazard lights work fine and central locking does not work using fob buttons
Thank in advance for any help or info
