Default Keyless-Go

2012 Journey 2.4L w/ remote start. Car has intermittent no-start. Fobs work fine and have known good batteries. Car battery load tests at 540 amps, alternator charges at 14.45v, no voltage drop measured at battery cables, lights work, keyless entry works good,locks,etc. Alarm is shut off. Sometimes car will start right up, other times will take 10 minutes or even 3 days before starting. Fobik nose pressed against the ignition button does nothing, just a subtle, brief clicks from a relay(s) can be heard.

Does a replacement push button ignition switch (68299959AC) require reprogramming? How about the existing FOBIKs, do they need to be reprogrammed for the new switch too? Or are new FOBIKs required and programmed to the new ignition switch?

Hi daktwos,
We certainly understand why this may be concerning. We kindly recommend having your dealer inspect this concern for you as they are in the best position to assist. If you do work with your dealer, we would be more than happy to provide you with additional support via private messages.

Update;
After a lot of poking around on my son's Journey measuring and testing components it ended up being excessive corrosion on the mating surfaces of the starter motor and the bell housing causing it to lose ground. I also found an extreme amount of corrosion on the outer circumfrence of the throttle body and the inner surface of the rubber intake snorkel had literally welded itself to the corrosion. A real mess to clean off all these surfaces. The car starts reliably now. I'll have my son keep an eye on the effects of the corrosion and stay ahead of it.
