I have an 09 Dodge journey SXT FWD 3.5 I changed the alternator on it and after doing so the transmission did not want to shift out of first gear got it home started it up to go for a drive shifted just fine. Started up to go for a drive again, it would not start at all not even crank. Took the battery cable off, it started, shifted fine. Took another ride to the store, again it wouldn't shift out of first gear. I stopped, turned it off, turned it back on it shifted just fine. So today it decided it didn't want to start again not even crank over. So I was going to try to put it in neutral and start it that way I could not press the brake in nor move the shifter. Took the cables off for a while, put them back on it drive fine for a minute then all of a sudden it didn't want to shift out of 1st gear unless I turn it off and back on again. Funny thing is the check engine light has not came on, no warning lights other than the ABS light that is always on. I still checked for codes and the only code it gave was a known code that it's been giving for an ABS light. Can anyone give me an idea of what is or might be going on please?

 

I have had the same problem with my 2011 Dodge Journey keep going dead. I have bought a battery and a new alternator and still having the same problem. I had to put a motor in it 5 years ago as well. It’s like something is draining the battery but I make sure all the lights and radio is off.
