Question EVAP dying + fuel leak + P2068 code at the same time

Hi.

I have a Journey 2009. Here's a weird situation where 3 problems happened at the same time, and I'd like to have your thoughts about it all, mostly : "Is it all related at all, or just a very unfortunate turn of events that they all showed up at the same time"?

Recently, I went to fuel it up, and the pump kept "clicking off" every second or so, which has never happened before.

I managed to get it almost full. But when I started the engine, the gauge was straight in the middle, and after a few seconds, the "check engine" light turned on.

When I got to my destination, I looked it all up.

The pump clicking off all the time is linked to the EVAP canister going bad. That makes sense, since I had some other symptoms for it that I was ignoring.

The OBD2 code is "P2068 : Fuel Level Sensor “B” Circuit High", which is a problem with the fuel sending unit on the passenger side.

I let the car sit there for the night, and the next day, when I got to it, it was leaking fuel on the passenger side. I drove it to a place where I could safely check it up, and by the time I got there (Maybe a 10 minute ride), no more leak. But the leak came back when I filled it up again and let it sit for a while.

So, what I did, I changed the EVAP canister, easy enough. I was hoping that since everything happened at the same time, changing the canister would solve them all, but no. The fills up without a hitch, but the gauge is still sitting in the middle, the P2068 code still shows up, and I still have some fuel leaking on the passenger side when the tank is full and the car has been sitting for a while.

Any thoughts will be more than welcomed.

Did old evap unit have pieces of black carbon stuck in the hoses ? Sometimes that happens when they get messed up.

I assume it’s the 3.5 v6 engine because you talk about passenger sending unit. The 2.4 I think only has pump sending unit.
Rockauto has a listing for passenger sending unit, it’s in the picture. Not sure if seal is included, may need to get separately.
Seems like sending unit and bug oring seal need replacing. Tank could actually be topped up (gauge shows wrong) and o ring seal is bad and needs replacing. Run tank as low as possible if you diy the job. Gas is heavy. Need quick release fuel line tool, Harbour Freight maybe.
