I have a 2015 dodge journey the wheel seal went out and when the axle was pulled found a metal ring inside what is it? Is it fixable without pulling the transmission if so what do I need

 

Looks like part of the bearing cage. Might be able to change this outboard bearing in place on car. The bearing retainer may be held by the four bolts on the plate mounted around the bearing. Should also be a circlip retainer so snap ring pliers will be needed.

New Lip seal can be driven in with a very large diameter socket if you don’t have a seal driver set. Better a damaged bearing then tranny aluminum housing.
