I have a 2005 SXT. Yesterday I got home from work, and parked the car. Later that night I went out to go to the store, and couldn't get the shifter to move from park. Thanks to information you guys had on this forum, I was able to figure out pretty quickly that it was the locking mechanism that had failed. I tried the emergency release and didn't have any luck. I disassembled the center console, and removed the shifter. Apparently the release mechanism is broken. I was able to put it back to together such that I can manuver my hands and force the release of the shifter handle so that I can at least drive the car now.

The dodge dealer ordered a replacement that came in today, but the wrong part arrived. They told me the correct shifter was on back order and couldn't tell me when it would be available. If anyone has any idea where I can find one please let me know. It's no real easy to get the handle to release, put at least I can still drive my car.
