Default Toasted a GT-H

I was in Joliet, IL last week with my stock '07 R/T when a guy pulled up alongside at a stoplight. When the light turned green he floored it to the next light. This happened twice, so at the next light (Jefferson and Houbolt for those in the area), I looked at him. He grinned and pointed forward, so I nodded. When the light turned green, I nailed it and never looked back. The Magnum took it completely. He followed me into a Mc Donalds where we talked a little while. He bought the car from a Ford dealer in Oregon, and was a little disappointed in the performance, but was going to keep it as an investment car to sell after retirement.

For those that don't know, the GT-H is a Shelby Mustang made for Hertz. Apparently they are selling them off to Ford dealers after they get 20K or so on the odometer. He paid $41k in a sealed bid auction for the car. Not sure if its worth it, but I know only about 500 were supposed to be built.

He was very impressed that the Magnum was only an R/T and ran quicker than his GT-H, and said he would have to test drive one. Before I left, he paid for my chocolate shake. So any of you R/T or SRT owners out there in the Joliet area, be on the lookout for a free meal in the guise of a black w/gold stripes Shelby GT-H.

I'm betting that guy couldnt drive a car worth a spit either.....and understand, I'm not trying to bash you at all...

2006 Shelby Mustang GT-H
325hp & 330ftlbs torque
3500lbs
5spd Auto

2007 Dodge Magnum R/T (I'm going to assume you have a RWD)
335hp & 375ftlbs torque
4125lbs
5spd Auto

I'm just going to have to say that the guy simply couldnt drive.....because you should not have won.....the GT-H weighs almost 700lbs less and runs around a 13.6-.8 in the quarter mile...

Yes, I realize that on paper he should have won. His hp to weight is around 10:1, mine is 12:1. Torque-wise, the cars are even at around 10.5 to 1. Incidentely, the R/T is actually rated at 340 hp/ 390 ft/lbs.

I just read a spec sheet on the GT-H where they got a 12.9 qtr mile and 5.1 0-60 times. So maybe I just had a good day, but all I did was floor it off idle (traction control on) and I heard him hit it, and by 3rd gear I had a serious lead and was pulling away.

No matter what, it was fun.
Maybe next time I'll be buying the chocolate shake, eh?

I'm considering a shaker scoop and I don't trust myself to cut the hole in the hood. I know Kennedy has done showcars since I was a kid, but I don't think he does much of the work anymore. Thanks for the Plainfield tip.

what shaker hood are you getting? the CDC or the MoPower one. i like the mopower one better. it has bigger internal duct work
and the scoop is a replica of the original design.

Haven't made a firm decision yet but I'm leaning toward the CDC because it looks factory (under the hood) and includes everything to make it functional for ~ $1000. The only shaker scoops I've seen is the CDC and the one from Danko so I'll have to look for the Mopower scoop.

Is there a website for Mopower? I can't seem to find it. Also, is the Danko the same as the Mopower? I like the scoop inserts (grille) better than the CDC.
