Personalized plates are cool and I wouldn’t mind having one, but I can’t get over having to pay an extra $40 annually for custom plates! Why is that? Annual CA registration is ridiculous enough. Once you pay the initial cost, that should be it. What a rip-off![:'(]

Here's my plate, I may try to get something better. Here in Florida, it is only about $20 to get a vanity plate.

Well, yea, it is a rip off! But if you can afford to have fun, what the heck? Living in CA, everything is a a rip! Houses that cost $100K 9 years ago now cost $450K. Good thing I bought the house 9 years ago!!!
I don't mind the extra cost of a Coastal plate, as they DO actually contirbute to a good cause, and it IS TAX DEDUDUCTABLE! (All license fees are) let the IRS pay for it!

Tax deductible!!?? Hmm.. Didn’t know that. Is that only for the “designer” plates, or any custom plate?

Good thing I bought a home even 2 years ago. Then it was $350k now it’s $600k.

ALL license fees are tax deductible, better find a new acct or tae some classes.

Not all DMV fees are deductible, just licence fees. Stuff like overweight fee and standing in line fees are not.
