2008 Magnum R/T AWD (pics)
After 3 mos. of waiting, she finally arrived yesterday. Already put 240 miles on her. Man, she drives like a dream. That Dark Titanium is a beautiful color, better to see it in person. I'm not allowed to mod this car so it'll be stock while it's with me.
Here's the new key fob. With Tip Start, no need for a metal key to turn the starter. All you is 'tip' or turn the key quickly and electronics take care of starting the car. If for some reason, the key fob loses battery power and can't open the car, push the slider switch on the key fob and a metal key can be pulled from from the bottom of the key fob. This metal key will only open the door from the outside. It cannot start the car. The 'X2' button is for Remote Start, w/c is part of the Popular Equipment Package.
Note: I don't have HID headlights. Since I won't have the car for long, I didn't think it was worth it.

THE EXTERIOR: Tooks some pics after work at the Chrysler Museum, im front of Chrysler Headquarters (they call the 'Tower'), and at home. Most shots were in sunlight and the last 4 were after sunset.

This is the monument on the circular drive in front of the museum. See the Chrysler Headquarters tower in the background.

Here's the new antenna that's standard now on most Chrysler vehicles. It doesn't fit in well with the nice lines of the vehicle. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

In front of the Tower building.

After sunset.

The AWD wheel. Better than the previous wheel IMO. I wish it were 20 inchers like the RWD.

THE INTERIOR.

The ignition switch. There's no particular way you have to insert the key fob.

The cruise control stalk. I had this on my Nitro so I'm used to it.

The new generation radio (not MyGig w/c is an optional upgrade) that going in most Chrysler vehicles now. I had this in my Nitro and I like it a lot.

Notice I don't have a liftgate release button. It must be part of a Convenience Package. No big deal for me.

Don't know if this is new for 2008. Adjustable brake and gas pedal.

Leather wrapped console exterior.

Inside door trim.

The new cupholders illuminate your drink at night. No heating or cooling feature like the Calibers or Sebrings have.

Here's how Tip Start was explained to me by and engineer at work.
With the introduction of Control Area Network Bus (a bus is a computer term for a set of wires that carry information), we can operate many vehicle functions "by wire" or without any mechanical assistance. In many Chrysler Group vehicles, starting the vehicle is one of the operations that is now computer controlled. The car's Electronic Control Unit accepts an input from the key turning in the ignition to the "Start" position. A number of functions are set into motion that will start the engine without the operator holding the key in the "Start" position—the driver can just tip the key and release. Many other systems benefit from CANBus technology, but tip start is one of the most noticeable to the driver.
