Can I install 17" wheels on my RT?
Now that the winter season is nearly upon us I need to start thinking about changing out my tires and rims for a set of steel wheels and proper snow tires. Is the R/T model able to accommodate 17" wheels? Shopping for 18" winter tires is proving to be more than what me and my wallet can handle.
Any help would he greatly appreciated.
Thank you

the factory 17" sxt wheels fit the rear of my magnum r/t but not on the front. the rim hits the caliper in the front. i don't know about aftermarket 17" wheels.
Nope. Just like 65 Standard said, they scrape the front Rotors. We all tried that to get quicker 0-60 times... I had to reply to your post because of a comment a tire guy told my boss like a decade ago. He was complaining about the price of the tires for his car. "You want cheaper tires, get a cheaper car!" I cracked up.The logic is there... You should be able to pick up a real nice tire for less than $150 each. Granted, that's a tad more that the Wal-Mart $35 Tire special, but then again, you won't drive away in that thing that those $35 tires fit either... This is a very nice car!
Hello,
I just purchased a set of (4) snow tires from "tire rack dot com" for my rwd R/T.
225/60SR18 WinterForce - $88.00 USD Each.
Theycan also be studded ifyoureally need extra traction.
They may not be the best snow tire available, but I decided to give'em atry for the price.
Besides, my factory crappy Conti's are nearly bald with 19k miles. Definitely not safe for winter driving.[sm=badidea.gif]
Theyare the exactsame size that's already on your car, so no clearance problems.
I gave up on finding 18" plain steel rims for now, instead I've found another set of R/T alloys touse just for the winter tires.
My advise is to keep watching the auction sites for used factory Magnum 18" R/T rims.
Used 18" OEM rims or any chromed aftermarket brands would still run you about $100 each.
Plain steel rims would be $70-$95 a piece anyways, so forget about the plain steel rims and keep your car looking good all winter.
Turn on the snow machine, I'm ready this year![sm=gears.gif]
