2005 dodge magnum RT owners..whatyathink?
I just became the owner of a 2005 dodge magnum RT. I have seen mixed opinions about this vehicle. I love it so far......but was wondering what were the opinions of some folks who have owned it for a while.
So if you have a 2005 RT magnum and have owned it for a while...what do you think? are you happy with it? Did you get rid of it? why?
thanks just was wondering.

I have had mine since Feb 05 (Nov 04 build) and it has been nearly flawless for 30,000 miles. I know there have been numerous people with problems, but I suspect they had early builds. Mine is Mineral Grey RWD.
Got ours January '06. It was an 05 leftover. A few minor items - sunroof switch, brake light coming on without brake being set; then we had a few mechanicals - EGR Valve, Oxygen sensor, axle seals. Outside of these, car has been a blast. Great on the highway. Good luck.
Thanks guys for the responses. Believe it or not it is helpful to me.
I so far love the magnum. I love the way it sounds when i first fire her up! ( have flowmasters on mine and sound great).
anyway, thanks to those who have responded and look forward to more responses

My brother had the same problem with the emergency brake light. He had his in the shop a few times--no resolution.
I bought an end-of-the-year '05 and started to notice the same problem.
It came to me one dy as I watched my brother get out of his car. He was hitting the e-brake pedal as he got out. Not enought to set the brake, but enought to make the e-brake light come on. I noticed that I had done the same thing when my light came on.
The fix: I moved my seat back a bit to facilitate exiting without tapping into the e-brake pedal as I exited the car.
Since then, no problem.
Meanwhile, I really like my Magnum. Too bad it is being discontinued.
My biggest complaints:
The brake (not the e-brake) pedal sits too high--causing increased stress from the heel of the right foot on the floor mat. This results in a lot of wear (just bought new ones after the hole went all the way through the mat) on the floor mat.
The e-brake should be in the middle console insdtead of in the floor.
Continental tires were not worth the price. Running Goodyears now. Had to replace the Continentals after 20,K miles.

Briggs, I thought the same regarding ebrake. My wife usually has this happen and asked her if she might be inadvertantly hitting pedal, she swore not, but it is VERY intermittent.
Same with tires. I was REALLY annoyed with the Continentals. I had to replace after 25K and really should have done so prior. We got Goodyears as well. I met a guy who put Pirelli's on his and loves the ride. My Goodyears were replaced after 5k miles by Goodyear after we got a vibration. Be aware, never really heard why. The Goodyear shop just said Corporate wanted to replace them and they all 4. Makes one wonder ....
I posted a topic on Force Balancing. Check it out if you run into issues. We got the brand new ride back after doing it.
Regards.
