Default Horrible sounds from engine... HELP!

I have an 05 r/t with 45k miles... my engine always had a little tick while idling.. and I was told that was normal... ok, I can buy into that.... but when I'd accelerate (Not getting on it... just almost 30-50% Pedal Position below 2.5-3k rpms... horribly noticable going uphill or even just adding pressure to the throttle enough for the engine to stress) a rattling is heard. People blew it off sayin they couldn't hear it. But now since I've installed my intake a while ago, it's dramatically magnified the sound.... it happens when you really hear the whistle effect from the intake sucking is right around when it likes to rattle...she runs great, but I've heard that it's a rod knocking, something bout my bearings, change my oil (bull****, didn't work) all the way from the dealer lookin at me after I showed him the noise and his response was, "Well, it could be a number of things..." I thought these guys worked on these things AAAALLLLL day and would be able to pin point it... anyone experiance something similar? But please excuse my description of the sound... it's more of like taking two bolts and tapping them on a steel block... like I said this only happens when the engine is under stress... his suggestion is to run a higher octane as he thinks it is a "Spark knock" and that it should theoritically decrease the sound... but I'm still puzzled as to why it would be doing it in the first place.

I'd greatly appreciate anybody's imput!

Thanks!

Its your stereo set up, they only work in the 6cyl Magnums....kidding, completely kidding....try using a screwdriver (a long one) as a stethescope, have a friend rev the motor and set the screwdriver on the block at different locations, put your ear to the handle, and listen till the sound is the loudest, at least then you may pinpoint the location of the noise. I know that sounds like voodoo magic, its an old school technique. It could be a number of things, from spark plug ping all the way to (God forbid) a rod, you may have a broken spring in the valve train, I have heard that our springs arent the toughest they could be. Good luck with it and please let us know what it is/was and the fix.

After I installed my CAI I hear what to be a octane knock for about 2 seconds right at the power range described. I use 93 Octane Gas since inception. I'm not a car guy (computer guy), but it almost sounds like the engine is not getting or is getting too much air in the beginning of a rev. It's not a what I consider a sound that something is banging though/

17K miles 06 RT AWD - Berlin,NJ. O' By the way - got my oil changed at my dealer yesterday and consistent to the Hemi - O RING Replacement. - Covered. Other then that - this animal has been good to me....

sounds like colapsed rocker issues. remove valve cover that corresponds to the most noise and check the rockers.
