extended cranking on hemi
My (N.O.S.) 2006 Magnum hemi needs to crank for several seconds before firing up. The dealer tells me that this is "normal" (what else).
The thing is, other cars I have owned start up almost instantly when the key is turned; case in point: my '87 Buick Grand National, after having been stored for three years, roared to life the moment I turned the key. Why doesn't my Magnum?

Might be the starter... sometime they misfire a lil extending the catch but another thing even know you have a good battery is to check the connections. A friend noticed his ride was delaying more and more until it sounded like a bad alternator click, click , click, well, it was the starter AND the batt... So, check those 2 things and it will be a start.. but don't take my word for it, jus tryn to help!

The wifes `05 does the same thing , but only on occasion not everytime. It`s been to the dealer twice , and , of course they couldn`t get it to happen to them , so they couldn`t fix it. They "said" they re-flashed the computer , and it should help , but the first time she got in it to leave , it did it again.
I`ve been told , it could be a leaking check valve in the fuel line , not holding pressure at times , and that could be the cause....
