Default what kind of oil ? COLD WEATHER

hi!

I´m a new magnum owner. its a -06 rt awd. what kind of oil shouldI get? in sommer time its maby 10-20 C. and in the winter time its about -20 C.witch are the service intervals?
anyone know this?

sorry for my bad spelling im swedish...

you have no choice with a magnum R/T. you must use 5W-20 all year long. this thin oil is needed because of the MDS system. the special lifters that need to collapse for the 4 cylinder mode require this oil. if you use thicker oil, the MDS will not work.

i drove my magnum in -50 C weather for a week and it had 5w20 oil and i had no problems what so ever, and summer it his -30 for awhile and never had any problems then either

thanks guys..much appreciated, must say that this is by far the best car I´v ever driven. the awd works perfecty here in the deep snow. i got 22" chrome rims for the summer. I hope they fit.

You might consider Royal Purple 5W20. I've seen some positive write-up's on RP, and also MotorKote oil additive. MotorKote as a friction reducer is well established in NASCAR and the heavy truck industry. I am using RP now in my R/T, but have not driven it enough to see any changes. I have just over 8K on the odometer.
