Thinking about a Used Dodge Magnum
I have Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab that gets about 14.5 mpg and am thinking about another Dodge to buy to drive back and forth to work. I am keeping my Dodge Ram but looking a Dodge Magnums, Chargers, Avengers and Calibers. Something better on gas but still a good car to have. I am thinking about a Magnum with a 3.5 L V6 or a Dodge Charger with a 3.5 L V6 mainly. Also looking at the other two cars.
Anything I need to know before I get in front of the sharks at the car lots. Give me the Good, the Bad, the Ugly about these cars.
I am really leaning towards a used Dodge Magnum 3.5L V6 (Black, Grey or Silver). One that someone has upgraded the wheels and tires on already.

I have an Magnum R/T and the only bad thing I can think about is its weight. Any of the other cars you mentioned are lighter and should offer slightly better mileage. The Magnum is a wagon, so it is more versatile than a Charger.
I have a Magnum RT and have driven the Charger. The wagon is more veratile foir cargo. OPn the other hand, the rear springs are a little more stiff on the Magnum because it must handle more weight. Also a wagon will let in a little more wheel noise in the back than the sedan. I do love my Magnum.
Thanks for the info keep it coming.
Last night I stopped at a dealership to look at a Dodge Magnum. Usually sales people are on you like sharks. Well, I pulled in drove to where the Magnum was looked it over and got back in my car to leave. The gate was locked and closed. The next gate was locked and closed. Great now I am locked in the car lot. Call the dealership and one across the street owned by the same people. No answer. Had to call the police. 2 came out and then they had to call another one. One worked part time at the dealership and had a key to the gate. Said they had a new policy lock you in until you buy a car.

I am Also looking at a Magnum, I drove the R/T Version with the Hemi and I Relly like it, I'ts not as quick acceretion wise as I would have thought, ( not that it's slow ) and I'm most impressed with the ride and handeling, the wide tires may have a lot to do with this.
Verry surprised to find the battery in the rear of the car, I have drvien a few SXT versions with the 3.5 and power wise thier ok, but I prefer the Hemi, I'm also looking for issues to look for in a high mileage car.

I think the Hemi gets better mpg's than the 3.5. I have an R/T and took it in for detailing when I first got it and they let me use a (hate to even call it) a Charger w/a 3.5. It used a significant amount of more gas than my Hemi. The MDS really makes a difference if you keep your foot off of it. I really couldn't believe how pathetic the mpg's are on the buick (oops I mean charger). Sorry, I have an old school 73 Charger...Charger's are 2 doors not 4. The new one looks retarded to me. Ugh. I put on a K&N cai and wow even better performance and mpg's. I'm up to 360 hp now.
