Removing Resonators
Has anyone removed the Resonators from the exhaust of a RT.
I am wondering if the exhaust note changes and if it is worth it ?
I have read a previous post where there seemed to be an issue with the idle.
Any input would be great,
Thanks

there are no sensors after the resonators am i correct? because on my magnum the resonators were right at the end of the exhaust, only thing after them was the tips. i don't know if american magnums are different. i've noticed my car seems to kick up to 1 gear higher than normal.. like cruising.. maybe i just didn't notice it before i removed the resonators.. but it definatly make the hemi a bit louder. not loud enough for the cops to notice, but you can really hear it when crusing at about 1500 rpm
I went ahead in did it. THE RESONATORS ARE GONE !!!!
I took the car to a local muffler shop and they cut off the resonators. I had a short piece of stainless steel tubing put in and the old tip put back on. The car looks exactly the same as it did before the operation.
The sound is nice. Barks a little when it starts. At idle is is slightly louder but nothing special. At a constant speed, I can't tell the difference.
Accelerating up normally sounds great, when you hammer it, shegrowls nice and deep, just what I wanted.
For me it was the perfect fix. Not too shouty, just a nice rumble.
If thats what your looking for I recommend it.

I had thought about changing the tips to 4 inch. But I am glad I stayed with the stock ones. The bigger ones would have been too much bling for me.
The more I drive it the happier I am with the change in the exhaust note.
I even drive now without the radio on, to listen to the noise.
Its Sweet
