Default Snow/Ice Driving Works

When I purchased my Magnum SXT I was very worried about driving on snow and ice. The dealer convinced me that there would be no problems. I wanted the car so bad that I let this become secondary.

We just had our first 2 inches and I have to say this car handles in the snow very well. I live down from a hill that I must go up to get out. Water seaps out of the ground and onto the road. There is a 5-6 foot patch of ice that forms for about 45 feet on the road side. The car went up it with no problms On ice the car slows down as it finds traction between the 2 rear ties, but, stays straight as an arrow. I had no feels of sliding nor lose of traction. I know 2 inches is not much but I do feel more confident now.

We've had a strange winter this year in the east and have had no snow until last nite. Hope I feel this good about driving after we get several inches. not just 2. For now, I'm very happy. Except for my frontend. I'll post what's going on with that later.

Default RE: Snow/Ice Driving Works

I drove my Mag over the mountains where there was a couple inches of snow and it drove like it was dry pavement. However, this weekend the Portland area had freezing rain (typical of Portland, freezing rain that puts a sheet of ice on the ground, and snow being pretty rare). I tried getting out of my neighborhood and going up one of the hills my traction control kept any power from getting to the wheels at all...I had my foot jammed into it and all I could heare from the engine was a quiet idle. Amazing system. At that point I slid backwards and parked back in my driveway. I thought about turning off my ESP, but decided that if the ice was so slick that I'd rather drive my old 4x4 Exploder instead.
Snow is not so bad, but ice...that's another story!
