RT How to tell when cylinders shut down

Thanks for that. I had read that post and found that lovely information. However, trying to find out what Lt and Rt meant was another story. thanks for that info. Now, can you tell me what MinL and MinR represent? The manual is useless in this area of the EVIC.
Thanks a lot for all the useful info.

On long trips I did notice the engine kicking in and out of 4 cylinder mode, but it seemed equal to the A/C kicking on and off. The most noticable time I know the car is in 4 cylinder mode is going down the freeway while it is in 4 cylinder mode and stepping on the gas. It accelerates, hestates, engages the other 4 cylinders, accelerates, hesitates, downshifts, (due to my foot in the pedal) and now that all 8 cylinders are engaged, just flat out goes... Without being in 4 cylinder mode, it is just downshift and go in the same situation as above... Let me know if anyone else can feel this with their RT.

Just a quick note....those of us with Magnums that rolled
off the line early last year, we do not have access to all
the data that those of you do in the later Magnums.

Damn, that's a lot, yet you are correct about the innformation you are looking for being in there. I forget which thread, but one of them had an awesome link that explained in detail what every single item was in that extended Display mode, when you hold down the (2) inside Streering Wheel buttons. Maybe the Temp? Gas Tanks? Wheel / Weight Distribution? If I find the thread, I will post the link for you, but that was a couple of weeks ago, and this forum moves pretty fast...

ou need to reset the average mpg frequently to see immediate differences.
Overall though the Monte-SS get's 26, every tank, only the tenths digit changes.
My RT got 20.2 last tank, not bad I say...

that's one thing I wish they'd change, GM got that part right - the overhead display on the '03 Monte-SS has an instantaneous readout of what it thinks the current gas mileage is. It's pretty cool to glance up and see that you are getting 84 mpg right now (coasting, downhill :-) or when you punch it and see it drop to 6 or 8 mpg.

I never could understand that.
ORIGINAL: Grand Patron I would have bought a Monte Carlo a long time ago (I like the looks of the car) but isn't the horse power about 220? I never could understand that.
Either some folks at Chevy think like you do or possibly the Magnum is having an influence on other manufacturers. Here is an exerpt of features of the 2006 Monty and Impala that I found at http://www.chevrolet.com/chevyss/
SELECT STANDARD FEATURES ON FOUR DISTINCT MODELS. SS: • All-new 303-hp 5.3L small
block V8 with best-in-class horsepower and torque,* plus Displacement on Demandâ„¢ (DOD) for greater fuel economy.â€* • 18-inch aluminum wheels with W-speed-rated Performance tires. LTZ: • Heated front Nuance leather seating surfaces. • Innovative flip-and-fold-flat rear seat for added versatility.
Notice a few features in common with the Magnum?
