amazed they didn't destroy the car doing that, towing a 28' trailer with a magnum, an SXT at that, definatly well over the 2000lbs towing limit, i'm sure it's over the RT with the tow packages 3800lbs towing limit as well.

I have been towing a 14 ft all alluminum enclosed cargo trailer with my magnum RT AWD. I am moving my house stuff to Florida from NY this thing hauls great! I am using a weight distribution hitch, and that makes all the difference.[IMG][/IMG]

Did you have to modify the rear bumper for the reciever?? I need to tow a 9' trailer for a 700lb motorcycle but I don't want some monstousity hanging off the rear bumper or worse a cut-out.

Yeah, those crazy Canadians!
Wonder if DC will void the warranty if pulling up the service area with that Airsteam attached.[&:]

If you get the Dodge factory hitch from a dealer or wherever, it can only be seen if you know it is there. It only sticks down past the rear valance about a half inch. It has a right angle piece that goes into the main hitch and your hitch then goes into that receiver. Pretty slick even if it isn't cheap.

That hitch sounds perfect. How much is it? I work for a BMW dealer and MY cost on a hitch for my wife's X5 is over $700!! Cheaper than that, and I'm already ahead. Plus I'd like to use my Magnum if I tow to an event.

Watch out folks!

I would think that towing beyond the stated capacity would be a real bad thing.

1) transmission
2) suspension
3) braking

Sure, it can tow it ok, but it is not made to do so.

I could spell real trouble in an emergency situation. I sure as hell would not want to be in front of someone towing with an Magnum...

It was right at $500 installed by the dealer. You can buy the factory hitch, wiring harness, etc. for less if you want to install it. Try: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214014

Here is a place that sells aftermarket hitches for the Magnum. They are considerably less expensive, but will be very visible.

I towed my 6 x 12 motorcycle trailer about 350 miles today. It was unloaded on the way out and I had about 8 boxes of vinyl siding plus some other items on the way back. Each box probably weighs about 70lbs. Either way, the Magnum was a great tow vehicle. I hardly knew it was there and it actually rode better with a load. Gas mileage wasn't so hot. About 12 on the way out and right at 10 on the way back. Ouch!!! That was setting the cruise at around 77mph on the Interstate which made up most of my route.
