New Head Alpine Head Unit
I got tired of trying to find a song in over 2000 in a 10-disk MP3 Changer. Plus I like the fact that the CDE-9845 is MP3/WMA compatible. This way I knocked the songs to about 200 mp3 and 400 wma per disk haha. For $180 cant beat it IMO. For some reason I have always been an Alpine head unit/Amp nut. Here the install. If anyone has ? on the install, I will be more than happy to go into it in detail. More pics are in the link in the signature.

LOOKS GREAT - OK A QUESTION - DID U HAVE ANY CONNECTIVITY ISSUES AS IT RELATES TO UCONNECT OR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS (IF U HAVE THOSE OPTIONS). AND DID U BY ANY CHANCE GET A SIRIUS FACTORY ANTENNA AND USE IT TO CONNECT TO YOUR NEW SYSTEM? THANKS
356MAGNUM,
Is it loud enough? I mean, I have the factory 6 disk changer and 6 speaker setup, and I find myself cranking it all the way up, and wanting more.
Nice setup, I really like those speakers. Did you not put any in the dash? You did a good job on your web page as well.
Thanks.

I opted for the plain jane system because I knew I would upgrading. No steering wheel controls and no NAV. With it being able to play mp3/wma I can get just about 400 wmas on a disk. Plus I'm a cheap bastard and not going to pay money to listen to music. And what even better is that the head unit has a AUX input. So if i decide to go mobile video, I can just plug right in.
As a rough comparison: I was working on the rear in the amp area, removing the changer and powering down the amp from the system. To get about the same volume as the stock (non-Boston) volume at 3/4, I had the volume on the Alpine at 5 out of 30(I think). I also put on some 400up caps as 100hz bass blockers. This way the speakers arent trying to go too low. I don't have anything in the dash. The built-in 16wX4 RMS amp uses the same "V Technology" as the stand alone amps. Right now I have Sony speakers in the doors and rear pillars. If I do go more nuts and go all the way Alpine, I will get a 2 channel amp to drive the rear with some 2 way 6X9s and run the dash and door speakers with the head unit. This way the power is going from rear to front. I was thinking of getting a component for the doors and locating the tweeter in the dash, but i never did like the the "thin" sound of tweeters only up front. So basically the system is 16wX4 and 350wRMS mono. It is not a db racer, but is plenty loud. I have yet to run it all the way up. And thanks for the input on the webpage. I have updated it with the relocation of the amp to the center of the pocket after the removal of the changer.
