How often Magnum needs oil change?
Hi there,
I have put on about 7000km since I got my magnum 2008 (V6, SXT, AWD) and am not sure if I should bring it in for an oil change. I was told from the dealership where I got it that it needs an oil change when only the warning light comes on. Also, I was told to use regular engine oil. Is this info true?
Thank you!

I have an '07 Magnum, SXT, with the 3.5L engine.
I don't have an oil change light, so it gets done every 5,000km., especially while under warranty.
Also, very important - if you own the 3.5L engine, USE 10W-30 OIL ONLY!!!
My Chrysler Dealership accidentally placed 5W-20 oil in my engine last year, and the result?
Blue smoke from the tailpipe. I was sure the engine was pooched.
When I returned to the Dealership, the first thing the guy said was, "What grade of oil is in it?".
I replied, "You guys did the oil change, you tell me."
Turns out, the bulk oil they use is 10W-30, and when the truck came to fill up their bulk tank, they loaded 5W-20 instead (used for the Hemi engines).
According to Chrysler, the engine is fine and wasn't damaged. I insisted this error be placed on the vehicle's history, just in case the engine craps out during the warranty. That took over 8 weeks of bickering back & forth, as Chrysler did not want to do this.
The error is now on the vehicle history.
And now, I do the Magnum oil change myself to avoid any future problems.
