Will 22's Rub???????
I bought the 22" Dub Moab wheels for my Magnum but have not put them on because I want to put on the eibach springs first but Im not sure if I should lower it because I think it might rub. Let me know. Thanks

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
They won't rub if you don't change the overall tire diameter by more than a half inch. Other owners have lowered Magnum on 22's.

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
Yeah my rims are 22x9.5. I want to lower it 1.5"

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
what size tires are you going to be running?
|
RE: Will 22's Rub???????
I will probably go with the 30 series tire

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
my rim guy says...265/35/22....that's what I will be running on the fronts. 295/30/22 for the rears. 22x9 front rim and a 22x10 rear....
now my wheels just need to get here...[:@] |
RE: Will 22's Rub???????
Yeah they will rub if you lower it. It just depend on the offset on how much it will rub. I have the same tire size (265 front/295 rear, eibach drop) and I don't remeber the offset and it rubs. The rubbing is minimal and I don't mind it one bit cause it looks freakin cool! The rubbing is only during a turn while hitting a good size dip and once in awhile it will rub on a straightaway if I hit a really bad dip(Hawaii's roads are some of the worst in the country) but the inner liners are plastic so no damage to anything. Ohh, you will need to roll the fender lip so it wont rub bad.

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
I thought that by sharing my experience with you that I was being helpful. I understand that you need the offset to figure it out correctly but I dont have it on me and dont exactly have alot of free time to measure things out. I dont know if you are getting custom rims made for you but I imagine that would be the only way to fine tune it to get that wide of a tire to fit without rubbing and if thats the route you are taking then you dont need me to help as the rim guy should be able to figure it all out on his own. If you are sticking with regular production run rims you are limited to the offset that they make them in and in that case you take what you can get and you WILL rub. I looked alot for a rim to fit and have noticed that there are few choices in rims of that size(22) that have the correct bolt pattern (5x115) and offer mutiple offset. Sorry all I can do is offer my experience with what I have. I can speculate all day long but do you want to be the guinea pig for what I THINK might work? So far the things I have noticed are that we are limited to certain tire sizes (because of computer issues) such as a 265/35 or a 295/30 (not much choice in 22) and limited to certain offsets such as fwd or rwd (not alot of choice here either) unless we get a custom rim $$$ so...... seeing as a 295 wont fit up front you have one option for tire size up front combined with usually one option for offset RWD and viola. On the front I have no room to move the wheel in even if I wanted to and on the rear to fit a 295 I could move the wheel in maybe an inch to cure the rub but then I would need a custom rim and to me the rub isnt that bad to warrant such extream measures the 265 should be perfect in the rear though. As soon as I figure out something else cool to do Raxstone I will let you know my mistakes and remedies so you can come follow along and do it without worry and everyone else will look up to you as cool and trendsetting. I think I'm crabby today:D

RE: Will 22's Rub???????
rax u need to ease up on ink's post. blackmag stated his tire sizes, and it matched to ink's. ink was just giving his input based on those specs. i thought ink's description was dead on given the circumstances. of course offset is a factor in this topic, but that hasn't even been mentioned in this post.
that said, i have 22" TSW carltons, i have no idea of the offset, they are 9.5" wheels all around with prolly a high offset, and i was looking into DUB back when i was wheel shopping. to the naked eye the DUB's had a deeper Lip with probably a lower offset meaning more likely to rub if lowered. especially since you are going to do a staggered setup. the fronts should be fine, i have had a little bit of rubbing in the rear (stock heighth) with 4 ppl in the car going around a sharp turn under acceleration. i think if you roll the fender's like ink said, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. since you are goin with 22"s you are prolly goin for "show" over "go" so the trade off will be worth your while. btw, nice choice on the moab, like the look. |
